Take a massive shortcut on your “business – how to” learning by accessing the right Network.
What if I told you I don’t have all the answers locked in my brain box? I know, hard to believe right? 😉
Business is such a huge subject that a lot of people who would love the freedom of being self-employed put it in the too hard basket. In reality, even those of us who have been in business for over a decade still have vast knowledge gaps. With the ever-changing landscape, knowledge will never be complete. This is where being in a network of fellow business owners is worth its weight in limitless wealth.
I am personally associated with Network NZ. It started off as a Facebook Group and grew to the best business hack in New Zealand.
Seriously you could spend hours, months, years learning everything you need to know when venturing into business; not to forget all the curve balls that get lobbed at you along the way…
- disgruntled employee,
- suppliers stop supplying,
- tech just doing the stop for no reason thing,
- IRD…
the list is endless. I’m not telling you this to put you off, I’m telling you this to get back-up. Having somewhere to turn for first-hand advice is awesome. Google is great (I have a bit of a love affair with Google) but being able to ask people who’ve already lived the answers you’re looking for, relevant to your country will always be better. Think about the old word of mouth being the best marketing, well the same is true for getting answers, get it direct from someone who knows.

Since being part of Network NZ I’ve;
- Gained clients
- Met the best bookkeeper
- Outsourced an SEO Blog (saved me heaps of time)
- Learnt so much about Social Media I wouldn’t know where to start
- Debated websites
- Double checked “The Legals”
- Made some really great friends
Networking should not be boring. I don’t know anyone that came out of a corporate job who wanted to go back into stuffy suit clad meetings. Being your own boss gives you freedom, so sit in your PJ’s, drink wine, eat chocolate & laugh within your Network at the silly things your clients have said. No one will ever understand the special type of crazy you have to be to deal with the mad ‘ups and downs’ of business quite like another crazy business owner. Find your Network, it’ll be worth it.
