Flow; also known as “In The Zone”
Following on from Saturday’s blog Protecting Your Space, here are some ways to reconnect to the project you were doing before distraction.
- Make sure what interrupted you is dealt with…..you don’t want to get settled again and then knocked out of flow a second time.
- Re-set the scene. Move back into your work space, make a fresh cuppa, check you have all you need to get done what you want to achieve.
- Breath, focus on the end result and the why.
- Read/review what you’ve already done.
4 very easy steps to getting back into flow. There is nothing complicated about it, it’s just in the mist of distraction having the clarity to know the steps to take to reboot is hard. If you find yourself getting knocked out of flow, consider printing these steps out to put up in your work space to help you get back quicker.
Somethings that interrupt you will stop yo in your tracks and require more than a brief pause. Allow these occasions to be OK. Most people would rather you focused to produce good work than provide sub-par results.
- Take a walk
- Go to the cinema
- Dance it out
- Burn some energy
- Have a mind disconnect; read, meditate, watch TV
Whatever you do make sure to reschedule the work back into your time table soon.
Any steps that you take to get back into the swing of things? What distracts you the most? Comment Below 🙂
Short & sweet. Have a great day 🙂
I have three little distractions….I’m constantly stopping and starting and finding that zone again can be really difficult. Great post!
Thank you x
Another wonderful post Amanda, and these are always good steps to fall back on when distractions (namely master 3) happen all to frequently.
