Are you achieving your business goals? The actions you take play a major role in what you can achieve. Your business plan lays these actions out for you, specifying the steps to take towards meeting your goals.
The issue is though, many business owners aren’t too good at sticking to a plan. Things happen and all too often what we want to achieve never eventuates. So, the question is, how do we get what we want?
I Want What I Want & I Want It Now!
If you’ve ever seen Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, you’ll remember Veruca Salt. A greedy, demanding and fiery tempered girl, Veruca wants everything and she wants it now!
I want the world. I want the whole world. I want to lock it all up in my pocket. It’s my bar of chocolate. Give it to me now! Don’t care how, I want it now! – Veruca Salt
While you’ve got to admire her for setting herself a goal, it wasn’t exactly achievable and, in the end, led her down the shoot where the reject golden eggs went. Where Veruca went wrong, was that she failed to set achievable goals and a list of the steps she needed to take to achieve them.
What you’re going to do on the other hand, is use your mission statement and your business goals to identify the actions you will take which will lead you to achieving your business goals. Let me break it down further…
Achieving Your Business Goals Made Easy
Believe me or not, every little thing you do for your business plays a role in how successful it is now and will be in the future. Do nothing and expect the same results you’re getting now. Take the wrong steps and you’ll fail to achieve your goals. Set no goals and you’ll be directionless. But you can be successful by:
- Crafting a mission statement – this lays out your reasons for doing what you do and why you do it.
- Creating business goals – using your mission statement, you decide on the business goals you want to achieve.
- Making an action plan – write the series of steps you need to take to meet each individual business goal. This way you can take the proper action needed to achieve the goals, rather than random actions which waste your time.
- Taking baby steps – if needed, break down each step into smaller ones. This helps to make things seem much more manageable.
Once again, I’m going to say, every little action you make affects the success of your business. Are you taking the right steps to achieve success?
