You know you need help, but do you need accountability coaching or business coaching help? What even are the differences between the two? Or are they both the same, but with a different name? Well, there are differences, and I’m not just saying that because I’m an accountability coach! But there are also similarities, with cross over parts of services between the two.
I began my career as an accountability coach after being stung by people giving generic business advice. My experience got me thinking: generic advice didn’t work for me, so why would it work for everyone else? So I changed career track and transferred my skills towards offering accountability coaching for business owners and never looked back.
Often though, people become confused with the differences between an accountability coach and a business coach. So today I’m going to take you into on a journey explaining the differences and similarities between the two, helping you to decide if you need business coaching or accountability coaching.
What is Accountability Coaching?
If you’ve been wanting to do something for ages but never done it, you need an accountability coach. A bit like a Drill Sergeant, they’re on your case to ensure you meet your goals. However, that’s not to say they’ll chase you around the garden, yelling at the top of their lungs and humiliating you. Instead, it more often involves identifying your goals, setting deadlines, helping you plan what you need to do to meet those deadlines and following up at strategic points to ensure you’re keeping on track.
That doesn’t sound too scary does it?
The type of accountability coach you choose to work with will depend on a range of factors: personality, goals, level of support needed, business industry, type of contact preferred, cost and location. Some clients prefer the face to face support, while others like the convenience of a virtual accountability coach like myself. One of the crossovers with business coaching that my service provides is the assistance in identifying where your business is, where you want it to be and how it will get there. But next, I’ll explain the specifics of business coaching.
What is Business Coaching?
The traditional role of a business coach is to take you from one point and move you to another. They’ll help you identify your business vision, how it meets with your personal goals, help you prioritise your goals and plan how you will meet them. Generally you won’t hear from them again, unless you book another appointment.
This does work for some people. They simply need to know where they’re going and what to do next. For others though, they need the regular support, refocusing and the follow up to ensure they follow through with their plans: and that’s what I do.
So do you need accountability coaching or business coaching? If you’re prepared to go the distance alone after knowing where you’re going and how to do it, choose a business coach. If you want the ongoing support to help you identify where you’re going, how to do it and the follow up to check you’re on track, choose an accountability coach.
My monthly retainer accountability coaching membership offers you the tailored support you need to help achieve your goals and stay on track. Let’s have a chat today about your needs and how I can help: give me a call now!
